Feast Your Eyes on These NFL Thanksgiving Day Picks
In the spirit of the US holiday this Thursday, I have selected potential bets for each NFL Thanksgiving Day game.
Although I usually provide a recommended parlay, with all three of my picks for Week 12 failing spectacularly, there will be no suggested parlay for the upcoming Turkey Day games.
That said, if you decide to place a parlay anyway, you may end up having a payday to be thankful for!
Let’s get into our three NFL Thanksgiving Day games.
Thanksgiving Game #1: Chicago Bears Vs Detroit Lions
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears (5.34) have taken all of the goodwill and belief I’ve sent their way this season and wasted it like uneaten Thanksgiving leftovers.
It feels like yesterday the Bears were on a three-game winning streak and looked poised to at least have a winning record. The Bears have certainly had their moments, but inexperienced coaching has proven too much for them to overcome as they look to avoid losing their sixth game in a row.
The problem for the Bears: they are playing an incredibly talented Detroit Lions (1.17) squad, who has only lost one game all season.
It’s great seeing the Lions finally put the pieces together to have a competitive team, but while I’m quite confident they will win on Thursday, what betting lines are worth taking?
It is clear the Bears are major dogs this week, but if you’re looking for a longshot bet with a nice payout, taking the Bears moneyline for a shot at 5-xing your bet is worth considering. However, if you want a conservative wager that favors the likely outcome, take the Lions and quarterback Jared Goff to cover the 10-point spread.
Thanksgiving Game #2: New York Giants Vs Dallas Cowboys
It will be a shock to noone when this game between the New York Giants (2.69) and the Dallas Cowboys (1.50) turns out to be a big stinker.
With Cowboys QB Dak Prescott still on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury and the Daniel Jones Experiment in New York officially a failure following his release, it will be a battle of back-up quarterbacks come Thursday.
Both teams may be lackluster, but between the two the Cowboys are the favored team, having a recent win on the road against a competent Washington Commanders squad. Pulling off the upset in Washington certainly gave the Cowboys a much needed boost, and heading into their match-up with the Giants they are well situated to continue righting the ship.
Considering the sorry state both teams are in at the quarterback position, I would be tempted to pick the under for the first time this year, but 37.5 points is too low even for two bad teams.
My advice: play it safe and pick the Cowboys to cover the 3.5 point spread. Good luck to America’s Team!
Thanksgiving Game #3: Miami Dolphins Vs Green Bay Packers
Quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers (1.56) host the Miami Dolphins (2.51) in what is slated to be the game to watch this Thanksgiving.
Since returning to the field from his ongoing concussion issues, Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa has helped the Dolphins turnaround their season. Recovering from a 2-6 start, the Dolphins have won their last three games as they attempt to make a late push to the playoffs.
On the other side of the field, the Green Bay Packers continue to perform well owning an 8-3 record. Despite their stellar record, the Packers are currently vying for a Wild Card spot in the playoffs, as a competitive NFC North has the league leading Detroit Lions up top with an even better 10-1 record.
Hosting a Miami team in what is forecasted to be a game played in the snow with a high temperature of 31 degrees fahrenheit, the Packers will likely leverage their acclimation to the cold weather.
If Tua can overcome the cold weather and get the Dolphins offense going early, this could be a fun game to watch, but look for the Packers to cover the 3 point spread.
