Rampage, Kogay Big Winners At Playground’s WPT Global October Millions

With CAD $2.3 Million Guaranteed across 25 days and 18 events, the WPT® Global October Millions - held at Playground near Montreal, Canada - was a resounding success.

A total of 1,841 Unique players had 6,700 Entries to create total prize pools of CAD $3,569,580, paid out as 691 separate cashes.

Russian Maxim Kogay was the biggest winner, enjoying a mammoth CAD $302,000 payday for taking down the Main Event. A total of 1,267 runners pulled up the CAD $1,500 buy-in - including those who won their seats online at WPT Global - to create a prize pool of nearly CAD $1.7Million, smashing the CAD $1Million Guarantee.

Kogay secured his career-best score, after a heads-up chop with Ottawa’s Alexander Puchalski,  leaving 10% of the remaining prize pool, plus the all-important championship ring to play for. Puchalski picked up CAD $198,000 for his runner-up finish.

Rampage Scores a Big Win

WPT Global ambassador Ethan ‘Rampage’ Yau also added to his poker jewelry collection at the October Millions. The WSOP bracelet winner added a championship ring by taking down the CAD $2,200 High Roller, besting a 264-runner field to add CAD $120,000 to his increasingly impressive poker resume.

Accumulator Has Huge Turnout
Some juicy overlay was on offer in the CAD $200 WPT Global Mega Accumulator. After 1,629 runners spread over 11 day ones online at WPT Global and live at Playground, nearly CAD $40,000 was added to make up the CAD $300,000 Guarantee.

It was possible to play day 1 online at WPT Global, and even satellite into the event for just a few dollars, an online option that proved popular with Playground players new and old, who were hoping to make the live day 2.

Deep into day 2, the final seven players agreed an ICM chop, leaving 10% and the championship ring to play for. Montreal’s Jonathan Dsouza emerged victorious, winning $37,035 - not bad for a CAD $200 buy-in!

Meet Up Game Buzz
Away from the tournament action, three WPT Global Ambassadors - Brad Owen, Andrew Neeme and Rampage - hosted a Meet Up Game at Playground that had the cardroom buzzing.

Brad and Andrew’s MUGs have become must-attend events wherever they play, and with Rampage joining in the Playground fun, the locals loved having the three pros to battle in their 1/2 and 2/5 cash games for the evening.

OnLive Events
The October Millions was the first partnership between WPT Global and Playground. We had the OnLive Mega Accumulator event, with WPT Global players able to play day 1 online before heading to Playground for the second and final day, and online satellites enabling WPT Global players to win their way into the CAD $1Million Guaranteed Main Event for a fraction of the CAD $1,500 buy-in.

Online satellites allow WPT Global players to win their way into Playground events for a fraction of the buy-in, and online day 1’s, like the October Millions Mega Accumulator, cut player expenses by giving them the chance to make day 2 from the comfort of their own home.

After the huge success of the October Millions, watch this space for the next spectacular tie up between WPT Global and Playground.
