Why Patrick “Egption” Tardif Fits WPT® Global So Well
When Patrick 'Egption' Tardif joined WPT® Global in May 2024, it felt like a full-circle poker story. When he joined, he was quoted as saying:
“Ever since I first got into poker I'd been watching WPT on TV [WPT®]. Being able to be an ambassador for such a storied and prestigious brand was an opportunity I couldn't pass up on.”
After almost two years, these words still ring true of the strong partnership between WPT® Global and Egption.
Before the Partnership
Perhaps the most fitting part of this partnership is that Tardif’s connection to WPT® came before the sponsorship. As at times ambassador deals can feel interchangeable when the player has no visible bond with the brand itself, his previous love for the brand is a significant boost.
His own framing ties the role back to watching WPT® on television as he was getting into poker, which gives the partnership a strong foundation.
It also fits the wider WPT® Global positioning, to create a world class online poker platform.
It is trading on the longer WPT® identity while building an online-first product, and Tardif sits neatly between those two worlds: modern streamer, online MTT pro with a real audience, and genuine WPT® fan first. That combination is what makes the fit feel natural rather than forced.
Who Patrick Tardif is
Tardif, known to most poker fans as Egption, is a Canadian poker pro and streamer. He previously played Halo professionally before building his poker career online.
This résumé makes him the natural fit for an online-first brand in an ambassador slot, as he's not only been an online poker player, but a pro in other online games. He is not only used to playing high volume online, but he’s also comfortable doing it in front of an audience.
Taking this into account, it comes as no surprise he has over 55.5k followers on Twitch under his alias Egption, where he streams three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursday and Sundays at 6PM EST.
Patrick Tardif streams regulary on his twitch channel Egption.
The poker résumé behind the ambassador role
As of today, Tardif has cleared more than $11 million in online cashes and $643,348 in live tournament earnings.
We can also look at his 97th-place finish out of 10,043 entries for $78,900, along with his runner-up finish in the CAD$2,500 event at the 2020 WPT® Fallsview festival for CAD$210,947, listed there as $159,157.
There is also a useful post-signing proof point. In August 2024, World Poker Tour coverage said Tardif finished second in the WPT® Global Summer Festival $3,500 Championship for $130,640 while bringing an online audience of more than 1,200 viewers along for the run.
The same feature also said he finished 10th in the WPT® 500 and third in the $220 Summer Festival Championship for $25,859 during that same stretch. That matters because it shows him doing more than wearing the logo.
While representing the brand, the results kept coming.
Why Patrick fits WPT® Global specifically
Tardif fits WPT® Global due to a few key points: a genuine connection to WPT®, real poker credibility, and a streamer audience that can showcase the brand live.
This is better demonstrated by his words: “WPT Global has some of the best games on the market [WPT® Global]. The gameplay and action is unlike any other site.”
There is also a practical creator angle here. PokerNews’ October 2024 coverage at Playground showed Tardif operating not just as a streamer or online crusher, but as a visible WPT® Global ambassador in live poker settings too.
As an experienced, respected poker professional, he can carry the patch in both online-first content and player-facing live moments.
What this partnership gives both sides
With Tardif’s partnership, it continues his alignment with a globally recognised brand.
For WPT® Global, the value is just as clear. The brand gets a credible online MTT player, a recognizable screen name, a substantial streaming audience, and enough live tournament substance that he does not read as a pure content pick.
More than anything, this is why Patrick Tardif is a great fit for the brand.
He is a player who grew up watching WPT®, built a serious poker career online, backed it up with live results, and then stepped into a role that actually makes sense from both sides.
