INSIDE THE WPT® PRIME CAMBODIA CHAMPIONSHIP

The Prime Championship is a classic multi-flight $1,100 event. You’ve got several Day 1s to choose from, a combined Day 2, and a final table to close it out.

Day 1 FlightsJanuary 30 and 31
Day 2February 1
Final TableFebruary 3

This isn't some small regional tournament. In 2025, it drew 1,484 entries with a prize pool of about $1.44M. Alexander Puchalski took it down for over $233k. It plays like a mid-major main event with a six-figure first prize, so well worth the trip.

This is the $3,500 Main Tour event that caps off the festival.

DatesFebruary 4 – 9, 2026
Guarantee$1,500,000 GTD

Last year’s edition saw Artem Vezhenkov beat a 750-entry field to walk away with $390,650. You can expect a mix of seasoned international pros and Asian regulars. For most players on WPT® Global, this is likely the biggest buy-in on the Q1 calendar.

HOW TO QUALIFY ON WPT® GLOBAL

The Cambodia festival is built into the WPT® Global satellite system. You can start with pocket change and work your way up to a full $4,000 package.

The Satellite Ladder

Micro StepsStarting as low as $0.55
Mid Steps$11 buy-ins that feed the bigger rounds
The Finals$110 weekly finals that guarantee at least one $4,000 package

You don’t have to dive into the $110 finals cold. Grinding the $0.55 steps is a perfectly viable way to earn a seat while keeping your risk low. Always check the live lobby in the app for the most current times.

What’s in the $4,000 Package?

  • $3,500 entry to the WPT® Cambodia Championship (the Main Tour event)
  • $500 travel stipend (cash in your account)
  • WPT® Global merch and welcome perks
  • VIP Access: Players' parties and lounge spaces
  • Special rates at NagaWorld

Note: This package is for the $3,500 event. You’ll still need your own bankroll for the $1,100 Prime main and side events.

GOLDEN TICKET: EXTRA $100,000 BONUS

WPT® Global is adding a massive "Golden Ticket" overlay for the Cambodia Championship.

The Deal: If you win a $4,000 package on WPT® Global and then go on to win the live $3,500 WPT® Cambodia Championship, WPT® Global will hand you a $100,000 cash bonus on top of your first-place prize.

This is pure added value for package winners. It doesn’t come out of the prize pool; it’s a separate six-figure incentive just for qualifying through the site.

A WPT® Global qualifier rides a tuk-tuk toward a line of elephants and palm trees, capturing the adventure of winning a WPT® Cambodia package.

Cambodia is just around the corner.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT NAGAWORLD AND PHNOM PENH

If you’ve never been to Cambodia, NagaWorld is a massive integrated resort with two linked towers (NagaWorld 1 and 2) connected by an underground mall. It’s right in the heart of Phnom Penh.

You’ve got 24/7 poker action, plenty of restaurants, and nightlife right on-site. Cash games typically range from $1/$3 up to $20/$40 when things get busy. Remember, local Cambodian citizens aren't allowed to gamble in the casino, so the field is entirely foreign visitors and expats.

Money and Logistics

  • Currency: US Dollars are king here. They’re used for buy-ins, hotels, and dinner. Cambodian Riel (KHR) is mostly used for small change.
  • ATMs: Most dispense USD, but they often spit out $100 bills. You can break these at the hotel front desk or the casino cage.
  • Weather: It’s the dry season. Expect it to be warm and humid, but you won't see much rain.
  • Costs: Outside the resort, Phnom Penh is very affordable. You can eat well and get around via ride-share apps (like Grab) for a fraction of what you’d spend in Europe or the US.

PLANNING YOUR TRIP

  • If you’re a mid-stakes player: Focus on the $1,100 Prime main. It’s a great structure and a manageable buy-in. Only fire at the $3,500 Championship if you win a seat or have a massive week at the tables.
  • If you win a package: You’re coming in with the $3,500 seat already paid for. Use your travel stipend and bankroll to take a shot at the Prime event first to get a feel for the field.
  • If you’re a high-stakes regular: Use the Prime event as a warm-up. The main value is in the $3,500 Championship and the higher-stakes cash games that will be running.

One final tip: Cambodia is a marathon, not a sprint. Build in a day or two to actually see the city or just lounge by the pool. If you try to play every single trophy event, you’ll burn out before the Championship even starts.
