WPT® Prime Australia Championship Opens at The Star Sydney

The A$1,500 WPT® Prime Australia Championship is underway at The Star Sydney, the first of two marquee titles at a 21-day WPT® Australia festival.

With several starting flights still to come, there's time to jump in. It builds toward a livestreamed final table. It's also the warm-up act for the bigger A$5,000 WPT® Australia Championship next week.

Here's where things stand, how you can still get involved, and what else is running across the festival.

The A$1,500 Prime Australia Championship runs September 17–22 at The Star Sydney's Star Poker room. It's built around four Day 1 starting flights.

Day 1A opened on the 17th, with further Day 1 flights following. After that the field will converge for Day 2 on September 21. It will play down to a livestreamed final table on September 22.

At a A$1,500 buy-in (roughly US$1,000, depending on the exchange rate), it's in the accessible range of the festival's dual-championship headline. It's a genuine WPT® title within reach of a wide range of bankrolls, decided on the global livestream.

If you're in or near Sydney, pay attention as the Championship runs several Day 1 flights across the opening days. You're not locked out because the first one has played. You can still enter a later flight. And, the multi-flight format means a bust-out on one day doesn't have to end your tournament. You can fire again on another Day 1.

There's also a cheaper route in. The festival runs an extensive satellite schedule feeding both championships. You have the option to qualify online or on-site for a fraction of the buy-in.

The A$5,000 WPT® Australia Championship plays September 24–30. It's the higher-buy-in centrepiece of the trip. It also finishes on a livestreamed final table. Its winner earns a place among the game's honour roll on the Mike Sexton WPT® Champions Cup.

Two WPT® titles on offer in a single Sydney trip, one at an accessible A$1,500 and one at the A$5,000 flagship level. Win a satellite into either (or both) and you could have a shot at a WPT® Championship.
