Liverpool Face City in Match Of Season So Far
Leaders Liverpool host champions Manchester City in the most holy anticipated game of the Premier League season on Sunday. Games between these two sides have often decided the destination of the title recently, and even though it’s still relatively early in the season, with the Reds eight points clear of second-placed City, this looks like a game Pep Guardiola’s champions need to win.
Having won 10 of their first 12 games of the season, a price of 2.14 on Arne Slot’s side might look tempting. City, who have lost three straight EPL games, are 2.98, with the draw 3.60. Pep’s team took half-time leads in both games last season, only to be pegged back in the second half, with both games against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool ending 1-1.
It’s a Friday Night start for the EPL this weekend with a South Coast derby between Brighton (1.39) and Southampton (6.70). While the Seagulls are enjoying life under 31-year-old boss Fabian Hurzeler, going into the game in fifth place and just one point behind champions Manchester City in 2nd place, Southampton have found life back with the big boys of the EPL tough, and are stuck at the bottom of the table with just four points, having lost 10 of their 12 games this season.
Brighton won both games 3-1 the season before last as the Saints slid towards relegation to the Championship, and a similar result - and ultimate fate - looks likely at the AMEX on Friday.
Manchester United’s new era under Ruben Amorim started with a bang last weekend when Marcus Rashford scored the opener at Ipswich after just 81 seconds. The size of the task in getting United back among the challengers at the top of the Premier League table became apparent in the rest of that first game however, as United reverted to type and the Tractor Boys battled back to claim a 1-1 draw.
Amorim’s Old Trafford bow comes on Sunday afternoon when Everton provide the opposition, and with tough games to come after two fairly tame openers, the new Special One will be determined to secure a first EPL victory. United have won the past four clashes between these two teams, and they are odds on favourites to pick up just a fifth Premier League win of the season.
